The green credentials of an industry are still heavily reliant on hydrocarbons in construction, operation and maintenance are under scrutiny through environmental social and corporate governance (ESG) and institutional shareholders; regulatory pressure is growing as climate change moves to the centre of political debate; and generators are rightly looking for ways to mitigate costs, improve margins and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. A key objective is to achieve the decarbonisation of all aspects of offshore renewable power generation support activity, which has been identified by energy companies, windfarm operators, industry associations and governments as an urgent and growing priority.
